Privacy at Dendrocite

Information we handle

When you create an account, we receive your display name, email address, identity-provider account identifier, and the provider you used to sign in. We also store the source records you add to your library, import history, paper metadata, citation connections, and project decks. PDFs selected for import are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded or stored.

Why we use it

We use this information to authenticate you, keep your library private, create your citation map, retrieve research metadata you request, and maintain the security and reliability of the service.

How your library is kept private

Your library links and project decks are associated with your account and are not displayed to other users. Dendrocite may keep de-identified scholarly metadata in a shared catalog so the same public work does not need to be recreated for every library. The catalog does not expose which account imported a work.

Third-party services

Google or Microsoft authenticates your account. When you request an import, Dendrocite may request public article metadata from Crossref, PubMed, or the website you provide. Their handling of those requests is governed by their own policies.

Retention and deletion

You can permanently delete your account from the Account page. This deletes your account, active sessions, library connections, and project decks. Metadata that is still independently used in another library may remain in the de-identified catalog.
